1. It’s official: Chinese Travelers Love the Poles
“China Polar Travel Report” was just released by Fliggy (Online travel platform owned by Alibaba Group). What we learnt from the report:
- Big increase in travelers aged between 28 and 38 to the North (70%) and South Pole (46%)
- Most departed from Shanghai
- 21% of visitors to the South Pole travelled solo
- 50% of visitors to the poles traveled in a couple

2. These boots are made for walking
A new report, ‘2017 China Hiking Travel Analysis Report,’ examined the profile of travelers who like to hike on vacation. 68% of the Chinese travelers who like to hike are aged between 41 to 60. These folks are physically fit and also have means to travel. The report also points this segment spends a lot on transportation and equipment, and that there is much room for growth.

3. Kenya visits China to promote tourism
Are road shows an effective way to promote destinations in China? Kenya thinks so. Kenya Tourism Board will visit Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou on their roadshow this week. China is the 5th largest source market for the East African nation, with 53,485 travellers visiting last year. With more stable and frequent flights between two countries by Kenya Airlines and China Southern Airlines, more Chinese travellers are expected in the future.

4. Introducing the top 9 Chinese travel brands
On March 26, global communication service group WPP and Kantar Millward Brown jointly announced the ranking of the Top 100 Most Valuable Chinese Brands. This included 9 travel plans: Ctrip, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Home Inns, Hanting hotels, Caesar and Qunar.
