A recent chart released by the travel website “Tuniu” (popular with Chinese travellers), shared the top 10 fastest growing destinations for Chinese travelers. They are Morocco, Turkey, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, Russia, Switzerland, Denmark, Malaysia and Tunisia.

2. The magic ball is bringing China to Russia in 2018
CTrip projects a surge in bookings around World Cup 2018 in Russia. The dates of the event coincide with Russia high season (June to August). Booking data already shows a substantial increase in hotel and accommodation bookings, with fans from Beijing being the top bookers, followed by Nanjing, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Dalian, Xi’an and Wuhan.

3. Canada-China is engaged! (For a year)
2018 is Canada-China Year of Tourism, with opening ceremony launched in Canada late March, closing ceremony will be held in next fall. The number of Chinese travellers to Canada is expected to rise steadily and double by 2021.

4. Domestic adventure tourism on the rise in China: The Nomadic Inner Mongolia
Ctrip has released a report on sports travel, showing that bookings for adventure tours through Ctrip has increased by 400% in the first half of the year.
Inner Mongolia (which is part of China) is an area rich in sports culture and tourism resources. With grassland, desert, snow and other tourist resources, Inner Mongolia promotes horse riding and horse racing activities in scenic parks and conducts off-road trekking tours in the desert in the summer months. Skiing is also possible in the winter.

5. An outdoor activity trend is coming soon
On Dec 8th, 2017, “Lvmama” tourism website published a report recording a surge of 70% in mountain tourism. They found that this type of tourism is most popular with tourists from Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Chongqing.
Hot picks are destinations that provide mountain sightseeing with culture tours. The number of tourists that participate in mountain sports of hiking, skiing, camping and marathons have seen a surge of more than 5%.
